All these almost mean the same but are different by one distinction which puts them fairly in two broad groups… They all speak of someone / something which is different from others, but the connotative meaning of two categories depend on whether that different TRAIT is ACCEPTABLE or say whether that different TRAIT has PROVED TO BE BENEFICIAL IN DESIRED WAY IN THE PAST…

I remember the song… Humko Toh Raahein Thi Chalaati, Woh Khud Apani Raah Banaata…

I also remember reading some message on Whatsapp saying…. Parenting is a very challenging task where you need to convince your kid that they can do anything in their life and at the same screaming every two minutes…. Don’t do that…

The rule that we all apparently follow is, there’s a thin line between calling an act as an act of Bravery or an act of Insanity… That thin line is Winning…. (Winning – Achieving what is perceived to be beneficial by the people sharing their opinion)…

Our lives are grossly driven by Approval from those around us… What people around believe to be beneficial (or say the path to achieve what is beneficial) is the only thing we all tend to move towards… When someone choses a different path, it is ONLY the result that defines that act as RESPECTFUL or not…

But are we a group of people giving opinion, really that intellectual enough to drive only what really works? Not really…. We all know stories of how Human Race has evolved their beliefs from believing earth is flat and at the centre of the universe till where we are today… It’s all because Many people did things which were against the APPROVAL of people of their times, just that only Few outcomes are perceived to be beneficial…

Here’s a story… There were 5 people who came to a new city and started living together in the same house. While they learnt things around and found ways to make the best for themselves, they figured few Dos and Don’ts which helped them achieve their perceived benefits… Those Dos and Don’ts were as good as Rule book of the house… After a while they had a new person joining them, who was obviously expected to follows the same rules… Every time the sixth person did something different from the rule book mentioned, that person was criticised and did not get APPROVAL (RESPECT) from other 5, referred to as an Outcast, Rebel, etc… Until the sixth person (by own means/ways) achieved something which other 5 perceived as beneficial, then was the person referred to as a Genius, Innovator and an Out of Box thinker… We have the same pattern even on larger scales in our society… Norms which are ‘Believed’ to be best at delivering an ‘Ideal’ way of living life…. But then is it really so???...

I have usually given example of Biryani recipe in my articles, reiterating it here…

Biryani recipe
Picture this. You have few guests coming to place at short notice and you are to prepare Biryani for them. You know that biryani recipe needs about 16 ingredients, but you have only 12 wherein only 10 are from the required ‘Ideal’ list and 2 of something else. This doesn’t stop you from making the biryani. Infact you use your ‘intellectual creativity’ and use these 12 ingredients to make the biryani. You never know it may even turn-out to be better than what you initially set-off making… By focusing on what you already have and building on it (using it in ways never used before) you didn’t just achieve what was required, you achieved something way beyond it…

The Rules and Norms are set by those well-wishers who in their capacity could devise an ‘Ideal’ recipe to achieve results perceived by them as benefits. Ofcourse we all need Approval from society and we are ‘Scared Of The Unknown’ so we prefer tried & tested paths (Rules & Norms) set… However, we all also understand that ‘If we keep doing what we did we would keep getting what we got’…

Embracing Ambiguity means Achieving Unachieved Realms… Using our ‘Intellectual Creativity’, giving up fear of Unknown and giving up fear of losing Approval from society is what leads to different results… But will those results fetch you more Respect (Approval) from society… Well that depends if the achieved result is perceived by those around as something beneficial… But it will surely get you a unique identity…

(so called)Good people follow rules, but it is Good to break rules...

Humko Toh Raahein Thi Chalaati
Woh Khud Apani Raah Banaata
Girata Sambhalata Masti Mein Chalata Tha Woh
Hamako Kal Ki Fikar Sataati, Woh Bas Aaj Ka Jashn Manaata
Har Lamahe Ko Khulake Jita Tha Woh

  1. Nice one Dear Deep, I like your 'thought clarity'. In this article you have rightly mentioned that until and unless our surrounding dearest and nearest will not fill beneficial about our move/action till time they will give their rejection. So, we have only two options, first is 'be a player and play the game with full of enjoyment' or second is be & remain 'spectator'. Choice is...!
