STEM Theory of Investment – Pathway to Prospering Lives

STEM Theory of Investment – Pathway to Prospering Lives

Here’s another unconventional thought or say a revolutionary thought… JJJ

I’m sure most of us know about the Social experiment where Joshua Bell played violin in DC Metro Station and there was barely anyone who stopped by to listen… Those who don’t know about it, here’s the link to video on YouTube.

It’s not just this experiment, many would also recall some fun whatsapp messages reading… In Mumbai everyone is in hurry, but no one is on time…

Ofcourse you know what I’m talking about and you also know something is not right, but just dunno what… Let us attempt to explore what we do, why and how…

Few Philosophy that drive a lot in our lives is… Time is Money… every penny saved is a penny earned… Multitasking is the key to success.. etc…

All this has led to the ‘Rat Race’ we are in… But if these philosophies really work, why do we hate the ‘Rat Race’ that these philosophies lead to?

Let us understand everything we do in terms of our input… We constantly evaluate how much time, money and energy a task would take and compare it with the returns we project. We have mastered the art of being very astute in not wasting even the slightest bit of either of these three things.

We constantly multitask making optimum use of the time we have at hand. Always running and closely scheduling tasks one after the other, afterall the more we do more we get, isn’t it…

We ensure astute planning of having meticulously save every bit we spend… Think of those times when you’re really focused on calculating if taking a cab is better or taking a bus followed by train then Metro would be cheaper by giving a little more time and efforts (energy)…

In this entire rush we miss out on understanding how much we waste the fourth and most important component of our input / our Investment…. ‘Space of Mind’… While we decide on utilisation of conceivable resources; Time, Energy and Money we are actually using our ‘Space of Mind’ to take these decisions… In an attempt to be really cautious not to waste any of these resources we end up wasting our ‘Space of Mind’ royally…

STEM Theory of Investment states that everything an individual does requires input in four forms…

S – Space of Mind
T – Time
E – Energy
M – Money

Let me explain what is ‘Space of Mind’… It is the process itself of taking decisions… Similar to limited Time, Energy and Money we also have limited ‘Space of Mind’. While we choose to make multiple decisions fast, we lose out on quality of decisions we take. We lose out on gathering all the required information and observing peacefully to ensure if we are indeed getting the best outcome possible… There’s usually just too much of haste in saving time, smartness in optimum use of money spent and ofcourse our energy is usually the least we care of… We need to understand that it is more important to save ‘Space of Mind’ and avoid Micro-Management of other things.

The USP of Human species as compared to all other on this earth is the Intellectual Creativity… ‘Space of Mind’ helps us explore the path we are following and other three inputs of Time, Energy and Money help us execute the path… By not considering ‘Space of Mind’ as a parameter at all in equation we are risking not using our strongest resource for Prospering Lives…

Ofcourse you’ve heard about people saying, one should Meditate to have empty space in mind, but often it doesn’t need to be that extreme… A crude analogy would be of ‘Toilet Thinkers’…

‘Toilet Thinkers’ do not care about the Time they spend which leaves them with plenty of ‘Space of Mind’ and gets them best of ideas…

Another analogy here would be those holiday early mornings, when you have no priority and nothing to do… No multiple tasks to think about and plan… This leaves you with lot of ‘Space of Mind’ and I’m sure we all have experienced best of thoughts and ideas in those times…

Ever wondered why people from small towns, who do not really put in long work hours, still make really good amount of money, give lot of time to their family and themselves… Live really Prospering Lives….

So relating it to Meditation, it is really not that complicated to have ample of ‘Space of Mind’ at your disposal for the smartest decisions… Simple steps help a lot…. It is important to be pragmatic about everything you are taught, like those philosophies I mentioned at the beginning of article being an integral part of our life. True opportunity lies in investing ‘Space of Mind’ to figure which of such irrevalent learnings are to be un-learnt and once figured, do it immediately.

Multi-tasking is the enemy of quality in work delivered…. More you micro-manage time, more you push away the chance of thinking on the path you are following… Give yourself the peace of mind you deserve….

Learning like these should be your new philosophies….

Take small steps in everything you do daily… Like do only one thing at a time… Listen to music while travelling, this keeps your head away from chaos around and leaves you with your own thoughts… Make people understand you may not be punctual every time, because saving Time is not a priority for you, saving ‘Space of Mind’ is… Stop doing something you are doing just because it is to be done, do what your head craves for, what your thoughts are stuck at…

I know it sounds rosy, but impractical… The moment you close this article you have deadlines to meet and targets to achieve… I always say that executing change in ‘way of life’ requires lot of input in all terms; Time, Energy and Money… You would certainly receive lot disrespectful connotations for not being precise in estimate of Time and Money you invest as against something unconceivable like ‘Space of Mind’. But since you have given ‘Space of Mind’ to read this article and realised another perspective to look towards life, do make it count…

Dare to throw away and waste lot of Time, Energy and Money as long as you can save even tiniest bit of ‘Space of Mind’… That is the most precious resource you have to live a Prospering Life…
